22 February 1964: Beatles' Records

After a successful first US visit, The Beatles flew back to London arriving on the morning of 22 February 1964. In photos and film of their arrival we can see more of the records the group acquired during their time in the States.

Paul, George and Ringo were all holding records as they disembarked their Pan American flight, but (again) I can only make out three of them. First, Paul was holding the recently released Um, Um, Um, Um, Um, Um The Best Of Major Lance released on Okeh.

Ringo held the recently released compilation of Golden Goodies of 1963. Released by Roulette Records, this was Volume 18 of a series of compilations the label had started the previous year.

And when they sat down for press interviews in the airport terminal, Ringo had Mary Wells' 1963 On Stage live Motown LP by his side.

Another 'Recorded Live' Tamla/Motown record made its way back to London from America in John's wife Cynthia's handbag.

Although difficult to make out, this was Little Stevie Wonder's equivalent to Mary Wells' album, titled The 12 Year Old Genius. Most notably, this album contained Wonder's first number one single 'Fingertips'.
