21 January 1969: Beatles' Records

Here is another time that The Beatles were seen checking out the latest album by their friends and "competitors" The Rolling Stones. As filming resumed for the Get Back project on 21 January 1969 at the new Apple Studio (3 Savile Row), John can be seen holding Beggars Banquet. The Stones' seventh UK album was released on 6 December 1968 on Decca. Considering John and Yoko had been involved in The Rolling Stones' Rock And Roll Circus TV special in the interim (10-11 December), it seems like a long time before John picked up their new album. But, of course, this is not necessarily the first time that he is seeing it. Perhaps it was given to John by Glyn Johns who engineered the Stones' album, TV special and was now engineering The Beatles' sessions.

By the following day (22 January), the Stones' album had been relegated to the green-carpeted floor. Screenshots are taken from Peter Jackson's Get Back documentary.

On the 21 January, George Harrison also brought in a bag of at least three newly purchased Smokey Robinson & The Miracles records.

The first one we see is their album Make It Happen released on Tamla on 29 August 1967.

Second (in order or appearance), we see the previous albums predecessor (in order or release): Away We A Go-Go released on Tamla on 16 November 1966.

Last, we see Smokey Robinson & The Miracles' 1968 Greatest Hits album. This compilation was also released on Tamla but only in the UK and Germany (possibly other European countries as well).
